Francis Pardeilhan
Actor
Voice Artist
Performance Coach
I work with actors on language, but also on something more fundamental.
The question is always the same: do I believe what I see or not?
The work is not about adding something, but about removing what is unnecessary — so that what remains can be truthful.
Transmission of Practice
Five decades of international stage and screen experience – now dedicated to helping others find clarity, presence, and authenticity in performance.
Based in Italy – Working worldwide via remote sessions
About
I am a U.S.-born actor, voice artist, and teacher of performance who has lived and worked in Europe since 1987.
Over fifty years on stage and in front of the camera, my work has moved through theatre, film, dubbing, and teaching in several countries and languages.
A formative period of my life was my eleven years with Odin Teatret in Denmark, working under the direction of Eugenio Barba. That experience profoundly shaped my understanding of the actor’s craft, the relationship between language and physical presence, and the discipline required to sustain a life in performance. A number of the practical principles I share in my coaching grow directly out of that experience.
Over the years I have also taught in several of Italy’s leading drama academies. Many of my former students are now working actors in theatre, film, and television.
Today I work primarily through private coaching sessions from my studio in Italy, helping actors and professionals develop clarity, confidence, and expressive precision in their spoken performance.
Languages & Specialisation
I work fluently in:
English · French · Italian · Danish
I also have working proficiency in Spanish and conversational ability in German, Portuguese, and Norwegian.
A key specialty of my coaching is multilingual accent work — helping performers speak one language with the natural accent of another, an increasingly valuable skill in international film and television.
Voice, Diction & Accent Work
Clear, expressive speech is an essential part of performance.
Coaching may focus on:
• accent refinement or neutralization in English or French
• vocal clarity and articulation
• expressive delivery for stage, screen, or voiceover work
Language Coaching for Performers
• spoken English and French for actors working internationally
• natural rhythm, tone, and articulation
• coaching tailored to artists, professionals, and academics
Working Together
Sessions are conducted remotely from my professional studio in Italy.
Clients include actors preparing auditions, voice artists developing technique, and professionals seeking confident multilingual communication.
Each session is practical, focused, and tailored to the individual.
What a Session Can Look Like
A session might focus on a specific scene, an audition, or vocal challenge.
For example, an actor preparing a self-tape might work on:
• clarifying the character’s intention within the scene
• adjusting rhythm and pacing of the dialogue
• refining pronunciation or accent in English or French
• developing a more natural and grounded delivery
Sessions are collaborative and exploratory, drawing on practical tools developed through decades of professional performance.
“Red threads bind us — not of silk, but of steel.
I am proud of you.
You have remained coherent.”
— Eugenio Barba

After a lifetime in performance, I have become less interested in acting well than in helping others discover what is true.
